Its good to see TCS is coming for interview {I am just thinking of the old days of our batch :-)}
You have made a significant effort to bring the companies.
About the interview in TCS:
As usual the First round will be of On-line Aptitude Test : Students should go through the previous TCS interview questions and they have to be well versed in that. But the same questions will not be repeated. There will be some modifications in the questions like the values will be changed. so they have to go through the questions properly before answering them. Major part of rejection will be on the Aptitude Test side.
Second round consists of Technical and HR : In technical interview the questions will change according to the stream. If the students are from CSC & IT streams then they will ask in-depth about the papers they have learned. For Non-IT students the questions will be based on the computer papers they come across during their studies. Also they will ask about the project they are doing as a part of final Sem.
During the interview they will note down couple of things: 1. confidence 2. Attitude 3. Eye to eye contact 4. Communication (even if they are not well versed please ask the students to talk in English) 5. Ask them to be confident about what they are saying and also they need to convey the correct information (like i can only do all the things - this will be of over confidence and they will sometime reject the students). 6. They need to prepare their strength and weakness (Strength can be more and atleast they should have some weakness - if they say that they are strong in all the aspects then the interview person will surely find out the negatives easily. Also how they will overcome the weakness) 7. family background. 8. Flexibility (they will see whether the person is flexible enough to work in the company)
HR interview : If they clear the two interviews then this one is easy. All the above 8 points are very important in HR round too.
HR will surely ask the students to talk about 5 minutes in any topic. Please ask the students to prepare for that in any topic. Also they will ask about TCS. They should know about the company. Just they can Google it and find out the answers.Also the common interview questions like below.
• Tell me about yourself?
• Why should we hire you?
• Why do you want to join TCS?
• Do you have any problem regarding bond?
• Tell me revenue of TCS?
• What are your experiences in your college?
Hope the above points will help the students to prepare for their interview.
